No experience is needed to start the beginner ukulele class. We will cover enough about the ukulele that you will most likely be able to play a song on your first day!

Open enrollment for beginning ukulele classes are closed. We will be accepting beginning students during open enrollment in January 2026.

Intermediate class and advanced class are open throughout the year. Please see requirements below for intermediate and advanced students.

San Gabriel Valley Ukulele offers private and group ukulele lessons from beginners through advanced. 

Intermediate students should be familiar with chords such as C, C7, D, D7, F, G, G7. 

Advanced class covers items such as music theory, transposing chords and playing beyond the third fret. Conversation with the instructor is required prior to attend this class.

All lessons are geared towards Hawaiian music.

The cost of group ukulele lessons at San Gabriel Valley Ukulele starts from $25 per month depending on location. Family discounts are available. Please inquire about specific pricing. 

The cost of private ukulele lessons is $40 per hour plus travel. 

Yes. It is advised to purchase an ukulele prior to taking lessons. There are reasonably priced quality ukuleles for sale at local music stores. Brands such as Ohana, Kala, Makala, KoAlana are of good quality. If you are not ready to commit in purchasing one when checking out the class, there are very limited quantities of loaner ukuleles.
